This will walk you through the process of installing and setting up your new theme from Poker Wordpress.com.

1. Install and setup your WordPress blog

2. Download our zipped Poker WordPress Theme file to your hard drive and unzip it! You will find 2 separate image files (favicon.ico and banner.gif) and the WordPress Theme folder (western_by_FTR) inside.

3. Upload the unzipped Theme folder (western_by_FTR) to the server via FTP under the WordPress theme directory: ‘…/wp-content/themes/’ (this directory is located under your installed WordPress directory).

4. Upload the 2 additional image files (favicon.ico and banner.gif) to the root of your Blog installation (where you have installed the WordPress blog). This two image files are editable – you can change it if you wish.

What is the favicon.ico for? – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon

What is the banner.gif for? – It is a 468×60 sized banner ad running on your Installed WordPress blog right under your header.

5. Now, that you have the newly uploaded theme and images in the right place, you can activate the theme. For this log into the WordPress’s admin panel, then go to ‘Appearance’ menu. There you should be able to see our ‘Western 1.0 by FTR’ theme (or whichever theme you downloaded) under the ‘Available Themes’ tab. Click on ‘Activate’ and you are done, the theme is activated.

How to change the ‘favicon’?

- Create your own version of the favicon and just overwrite the uploaded ‘favicon.ico’ file in the root directory.
How to change the banner ad and the target site?

- Create your own ad banner and overwrite the uploaded ‘banner.gif’ file in the root directory.

- To edit the target link, go to the ‘Appearance’, where you activated the theme, then ‘Edit’ submenu. On the right side top, make sure ‘Western’ theme (again, whichever theme you are using) is selected. Then on the right side under the Template, click on ‘ad.php’. Now you can edit the target URL in the text box in the middle.
Make sure, you include the ‘http://’ prefix.

To save, click ‘update file’ on the bottom.
